Gold Star Families Memorial Monument Dedication
September 28, 2023
On Sunday, September 24, America recognized Gold Star Mother's and Family's Day. This day is set aside to honor all those who have lost a loved one who died in service to our great Nation. It was an honor to participate in the dedication ceremony for the Gold Star Families Memorial Monument at Tupelo Veterans Park.

Subcommittee on Seapower and Projection Forces Markup

Today, the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Seapower and Projection Forces held a markup for H.R. 2670, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2024. As Chairman of this subcommittee, I am confident this year's bill will make real progress to achieve a focused, prioritized, and strong defense budget.

The House Agriculture Subcommittee on Forestry held a hearing titled "To Review the National Forest System: Supporting Forest Health and Confronting the Wildfire Crisis." Mr. Randy Moore, Chief, U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Washington, D.C., offered testimony and answered questions. Congressman Kelly discussed the use of mass timber in rural communities. Additionally, he asked Mr. Moore about controlled burns to help prevent wildfires.
