Mississippi’s defense manufacturers play a critical role in America’s defense readiness capabilities. As of 2020, there were some 3,450 defense contractors in our state. In the First District and across Mississippi, defense contractors supply high-quality and cost-effective goods and services to the Department of Defense while providing good-paying jobs to our citizens. Hardworking Mississippians are building everything from ships, to helicopters, to unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and rocket launch systems.
This week, I had the opportunity to tour Taylor Defense in Louisville. Lex and Robert Taylor, the senior administration of The Taylor Group, Inc., provided a tour of their facility where their team rebuilds the MAC-50 All-Terrain Crane for the Marines. We appreciate Taylor Defense and all our contractors whose products will provide for the common defense and, above all, provide our troops with the tools they need to keep our great nation safe at home and across the globe.
