Dear Friend,

As members of Congress, it is our duty to make sure our service members have the best equipment available to protect America at home and across the world. Additionally, it is essential that we provide for our military families.

Last week, the House Armed Services Committee, of which I am a member, passed the Fiscal Year 2021 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) by a vote of 56-0. This marks the next major step in ensuring that we are sustaining our victories against foreign adversaries, protecting the homeland, and providing ample resources for our troops. Our work on H.R. 6395 was accomplished in bipartisan spirit - as it should be.

It was an honor for my colleagues to support my priorities that were included in this important legislation.

honoring law enforcement

At this hour, our men and women in blue are watching over us in the First District - a constant that we can count on. COVID-19 may have changed the routines for scores of Mississippians, but not for law enforcement.

In Aberdeen and Monroe County, a group of residents and business owners decided to show their appreciation by providing masks and food to members of the Aberdeen Police Department and the Monroe County Sheriff's Office. Nick and Ashley Provias headed up this effort. That's my Mississippi!

more good deeds!

Matt and Erin Reeves, owners of The Coffee Pot cafe in downtown Amory, are gathering up non-perishable food items to deliver to front line workers at North Mississippi Medical Center Gilmore-Amory. These medical professionals have distinguished themselves during this unprecedented time in Mississippi. I am proud to know they are being shown such appreciation. They deserve it.

welcome to wyatt stevens

Every year, we welcome interns to serve in our Washington, D.C., office and in the First District. Our program is a great opportunity to learn about the services offered to our constituents and to assist members of our team. Wyatt Stevens, a University of Mississippi senior, works in our Oxford office located at the Oxford City Hall. Wyatt said he wanted to serve as an intern because it would give him practical experience while pursuing a Political Science degree.
