This week, Justice Amy Coney Barrett took her Constitutional Oath to serve on the United States Supreme Court. She is an excellent choice to fill the seat formerly held by the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Following her swearing in, Justice Coney Barrett pledged to preserve the Constitution and follow the rule of law. "A judge declares independence, not only from Congress and the president, but also from the private beliefs that might otherwise move her," Justice Coney Barrett said. "The judicial oath captures the essence of the judicial duty - the rule of law must always control." I am thankful for the leadership demonstrated in the confirmation process by Senator Roger Wicker and Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith.

Nothing is more important than listening to our constituents, which is why I travel extensively throughout the First District. The month of October has provided numerous opportunities to meet with people in order to make sure their concerns are being heard loud and clear on Capitol Hill. All meaningful legislation begins with a conversation - whether over a coffee, on the shop floor, through an email, or a simple phone call. Our team is ready to assist you, and you won't have to drive more than 45 minutes to meet with a field representative. That was by design. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Subcontractors & Suppliers Alliance of Mississippi (SAM)

There are critical infrastructure and transportation needs in Mississippi and across America that must be met to ensure economic success across the board. This week, I had the opportunity to discuss this important issue that is a chief priority for President Donald Trump and Republicans.

I had a productive meeting with the Subcontractors and Suppliers Alliance of Mississippi (SAM) to share the Administration's legislative goals for repairing and upgrading our Nation's infrastructure. Executive Director John Sullivan (pictured) said the alliance was formed to provide the subcontractors, suppliers, and construction industry professionals a place to interact on issues that impact Mississippi's construction market.

Joe and Melissa Edmondson own and operate Topashaw Farms in Vardaman. They grow a variety of crops, including sweet potatoes.They employ approximately 200 workers to plant, harvest, and pack boxes of sweet potatoes for shipping. One of the most challenging aspects of their business is hiring seasonal workers or H-2As.

Through my role on the House Agriculture Committee, my colleagues and I have strived to help reduce unnecessary and burdensome goverment regulations so producers can acquire the help they need when and where they need it. It was great to be back on the farm with Joe and his son, Trent, to take a closer look at their successful operation.

It is always a special day when I can spend time with the brave men and women who have served America in the U.S. Armed Forces. It was an honor to meet with members of the George Robert Mitchell VFW Post 4877 in Booneville.

Commander Terry Tolar is the enthusiastic leader of the post and proud to share his excitement about their upcoming 75th anniversary. The post was first mustered in on December 4, 1945. They have 68 members! I appreciated the opportunity to meet with them to discuss our work to strengthen America's military readiness. Additionally, I wanted to make sure they are fully aware of the legislation that we have pursued on their behalf to enhance the benefits that our Heroes have earned and deserve.

Marsha Holder, a member of the VFW Post 4877, joined the Women's Army Corps in 1966. She volunteered to go to Vietnam, serving as a Specialist 5, U.S. Army, for two tours. Marsha helped to write about the experience of women who served in Vietnam in the book titled "Women Vietnam Veterans: Our Untold Stories." Marsha enjoys sharing stories about how military service is a tradition in her family. Her father is a 94-year-old World War II Veteran. Her brother, Ronnie, is also a Vietnam Veteran.
