House Republicans passed the One Big, Beautiful Bill, blocking the largest tax hike in American history and advancing President Trump's America First agenda.

There has been a lot of misinformation about what this bill does. Let's set the record straight:

Makes middle-class tax relief permanent
Expands the Child Tax Credit
Lowers the cost of health care
Incentivizes Paid Family Leave
Cuts waste, fraud, and abuse in SNAP and Medicaid
Strengthens our border and national security
Saves a family of four more than $1,000 in taxes

right to the point podcast

I was honored to join Chairman Rick Crawford and Representative Ben Cline on the Republican Study Committee's Right to the Point podcast to discuss the newly released FBI files on the 2017 Congressional Baseball Game shooting and share my firsthand account of that day.

I was the closest person to the shooter, 25 feet away, yet the FBI never questioned me or any other eyewitnesses at the scene. Five of my colleagues were shot, and the FBI failed to take this investigation seriously or share critical information with us.

academy day 2025

It was an honor and privilege to host Academy Day 2025. One of the most meaningful responsibilities I have as a member of Congress is the opportunity to nominate exceptional young people to attend our nation's prestigious military service academies.

Each student who attended Academy Day represents the next generation of American leaders - young men and women dedicated to the values of honor and service. Admission to our service academies is highly competitive and reflects strong commitment to academic achievement, leadership, and character.

It was a privilege to meet all those who aspire to serve our country in the U.S. Armed Forces. Thank you to families, educators, and mentors who support these students on their path to service.

Reserve Officers' training corps

Our great nation's Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) is another excellent pathway for students who choose a career as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps.

Recently, I was honored to deliver the Mississippi Army National Guard Oath of Office to seven University of Mississippi ROTC cadets commissioning into the Mississippi Army National Guard.

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Henry Gaschk of Olive Branch, Mississippi, to the U.S. Air Force Academy. A senior at Lewisburg High School, Henry has demonstrated excellence in academics, athletics, and leadership.

He has served as varsity soccer captain and received honors including the Randy West Mississippi State All-Star, MHSAA North Mississippi All-Star, and Offensive Player of the Year Award.

In addition to his athletic achievements, Henry is committed to community service, volunteering with organizations such as Mississippi Project Package and The Arc of Northwest Mississippi. His academic achievements include being named a National Merit Semi-Finalist and receiving top subject averages in multiple disciplines.

Henry's leadership experiences include serving as an officer in the National Honor Society, a member of the Olive Branch Mayor's Youth Council, and lead gatekeeper for the Southaven Parks Department. He is also involved in the English Honor Society, Chess Club, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Receiving an appointment to a U.S. military academy is no small accomplishment. I commend Henry for his dedication and look forward to seeing all he will accomplish in service to our country.

kody brumley

I would also like to recognize Kody Brumley of Hernando, Mississippi, on his acceptance into the United States Military Academy Preparatory School at West Point.

This outstanding accomplishment marks an important step into Kody's journey to becoming a future leader in the U.S. Armed Forces. Admission to the preparatory school reflects a candidate's academic excellence, leadership potential, and commitment to service.

"I've always dreamed of serving our country," Kody said. "Being an aviator has always been a dream of mine."

We are proud of Kody for his hard work and determination and wish him continued success as he pursues his goals.
