The USDA's Farmers to Families Food Box Program provides for the purchase of fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy, and meat products from producers. Family-size boxes are packed and shipped to where they are needed most.
Josh West, a co-founder of West Group Holding Company, LLC, is among the distributors contracted by the USDA to pack and transport boxes where they are needed. Joe Cayson, general manager of Cockrell Banana in Tupelo, said participating in the program has helped make up for their loss in revenue. "The USDA has really helped us," Joe said. "We work a lot of restaurants and the schools. When they shut down, we lost thousands of dollars every week. This program saved our business."
In September, the third round of food boxes will be delivered. That's good news for the Samaritan's Market in Fulton - one of the many charitable organizations participating in the program. Diamond King, owner of Samaritan's Market, said they have been distributing milk products provided by Prairie Farms. "People really appreciate what the federal government, Prairie Farms and what we have been doing," Diamond said. "This food has helped residents who have been out of work due to COVID-19 and those who are returning to the workforce. It is a blessing to help these families."

I want to thank USDA Under Secretary of Agriculture for Marketing and Regulatory Programs, Greg Ibach, for his testimony at the House Agriculture Subcommittee on Nutrition, Oversight, and Department Operations hearing. I called on the USDA to take a closer look at providing aid to our North Mississippi sweet potato farmers who have been dealt with a terrible blow by the COVID-19 pandemic. National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) FY 2021
The National Defense Authorization Act passed in the U.S. House of Representatives last week. I look forward to this bill being refined in conference to further strengthen our Armed Forces.

Linda Muir and her son, Stone White, have much more in common than being family. Both are working to meet the demand for Personal Protective Equipment. Stone operates a store in downtown Ripley that specializes in unique Mississippi-made products. Included in his selection of PPE items are three- layer cloth masks that are sewn by his daughter-in-law in Jackson, Tennessee.
Across the street from his store is a company called 3n3 Distributors, Inc. Linda operates the provider of PPE and other products with her partners Cindy Pruitt and James Bankhead. Linda's son is also a member of their team. The demand for their multiple product lines is increasing, and if this continues, Linda said it would help to achieve their goal to provide more jobs to Ripley area residents.

IG Design Group Americas, Inc., a manufacturer of holiday gift wrapping products, will occupy a 892,620 square-foot facility in the Chickasaw Trails Industrial Park. The $49 million investment will create 35 new jobs.

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, they marketed and sold medical products, but they changed course when the need for PPE surfaced - a decision many other companies have also made in Mississippi and across America. Linda said they are working to grow their business which will open up more jobs for area residents.
