Dear Friend,
Memorial Day is a day to remember the men and women who gave their all to preserve our way of life. Our children can go to school. We can pray in public. We have the right to voice our opinion wherever we choose because they were brave. General George S. Patton said it best, "It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived."
Those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice did not die in vain. It was for a cause so that we can live free. We celebrate their lives and remember what they gave for us. It goes back to John 15:13, "Greater love hath no man than to lay down his life for his friends."
It was an honor to participate in Memorial Day ceremonies in Blue Mountain, Tupelo and Ripley this week. Mississippians demonstrated their patriotic spirit in ceremonies across the First District and throughout our great state. Title X regulations
|
Last month, I joined my colleagues in a letter to the Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar asking him to review the current Title X regulations, and draw a more definitive line separating family planning from abortion. Abortion is not family planning, and clinics that provide abortions should not be funded by taxpayers. I am proud to see the proposed Title X rule announced by the Trump Administration on May 22. This rule will require definitive physical and financial separation of family planning services and abortion services, as well as roll back the requirement for Title X grant recipients to refer patients for abortions. As a Member of Congress, I have always fought to protect the lives of the unborn and the consciences of the American people.
