WELCOME

I am so proud to have the privilege of representing the State of Mississippi and the citizens that live in the First Congressional District. It was humbling to take the oath of office on June 9, 2015, to serve out the remainder of the late Congressman Alan Nunnelee’s term. With my family looking on, I pledged to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic and to bear true faith and allegiance to the same. I do not assume this position lightly and will spend every day working to improve our nation’s economy and help people get back to work at a living wage that allows them to support their families.

ABOUT ME
If you are interested in learning more about me, please check out my biography on my website.

MY ROLE IN CONGRESS

My principal role in the U.S. House of Representatives is to serve the people of Mississippi’s First Congressional District.  We have an open door policy in the office, and I hope you will be in touch with us if you have questions or concerns on issues where we can be helpful.

If you are in our nation's Capital, please stop by our office. We can help you schedule a Capitol tour, assist in a White House tour request, and hopefully, sit down for a meeting. It is my priority, as well as my staff, to be as accessible as possible as your representative in Congress.

During the 114th Congress, I will be a member of the House Agriculture Committee and Small Business Committee. On the House Agriculture Committee, I will serve on the Livestock and Foreign Agriculture Subcommittee as well as the Commodity Exchanges, Energy, and Credit Subcommittee. Agriculture is a top industry in Mississippi, contributing $7.9 billion to the state economy and employing roughly 260,000 Mississippians. I look forward to using my role on the committee to put forth policies that encourage rural development and allow the agriculture industry to succeed.

On the Small Business Committee, I will serve on the Economic Growth, Tax, and Capital Access Subcommittee as well as the Contracting and Workforce Subcommittee. It is vital to our economy that small businesses have the tools they need to stimulate economic growth and boost job creation in our communities. I will use my role on the committee to promote legislation that gets the federal government out of the way and allows business leaders to make decisions that are best for their businesses and employees.
