Here are some highlights from the week:
I enjoyed speaking with the Mississippi Association of Conservation Districts at their annual southeastern regional meeting. We discussed my role on the House Agriculture Committee and how we can work collaboratively to promote issues important to Mississippi.

On Tuesday, I joined Governor Bryant in welcoming the National Commission on the Future of the Army to Camp Shelby. The commission was able to see firsthand an annual field training exercise that included active-duty, reserve and National Guard units, including the 155th Armored Brigade Combat Team. As someone with two combat tours with the 155th, it is vital that we protect the capabilities of our state’s National Guard Units, including the 155th Armored Brigade Combat Team. Later, I made it to the polls in time to vote in Tuesday’s statewide elections.

I also had the opportunity to visit General Atomics manufacturing facility in the Tupelo Lee Industrial Park. During the tour, I learned about the facility’s work in developing an Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS) to be used in the newest U.S. Navy aircraft carriers. Mississippi is doing amazing things, and I am proud that companies like General Atomics want to invest in our state because of our dedicated workforce and business friendly environment.
